The Alliance Française de Jersey was founded in 1996 as a non-profit making organisation. Part of a network of 850 branches worldwide, the Alliance Française de Jersey aims to promote French language and culture in the Island. It offers a wide range of group and private tuition from conversational French to Business French. In order to promote mutual understanding between French and Jersey culture, it offers a programme of cultural activities, including a monthly cineclub, exhibitions, lunchtime talks, film festivals and it contributes to le French festival.
In addition, the Alliance Française works closely with the Education department to provide native French teaching assistants in schools, as well as training for States members and employees. It also partners with the FLAM program to teach children from French speaking families. Other services include translation and proof-reading work, as well as running a library of 4000 books & DVDs.
