Information

The Opera House opened in 1900 on the site of previous theatres in Gloucester Street; it was extensively restored between 1998 and 2000, re-opening on its 100th anniversary.

It comprises at 624 seat main house and a smaller studio space which can be used for smaller performances, workshops and other activities. The Opera House programme comprises a mixture of professional performance, performances by local companies and ‘live’ screenings from international companies. It also runs courses and community activities.
