Information

Jersey Heritage was founded in 1981 as an independent organisation to look after Jersey’s public heritage. A charitable body, it receives an annual grant from the States of Jersey to support its running costs but also raises income from visits to sites, as well as from sponsors.

It is responsible for the operation of the Jersey Museum, the Maritime Museum and Occupation Tapestry, Elizabeth Castle, Mont Orgueil Castle, La Hougue Bie and Hamptonne. It also runs the Jersey Archive; Jersey Heritage holds collections of artefacts, works of art, documents, specimens and information relating to Jersey's history, culture and environment. These help define the island, hold the evidence for its historical development and act as the community's memory.
