Sorolla: Spanish Master of Light, Lecture by Professor Robert Cumming

Jersey Museum and Art Gallery

Event Overview

Art fund Jersey presents

Professor Robert Cumming, art critic, art historian, author and TV presenter has worked for many public and charitable bodies and is currently Professor of art history at Boston University, based at their Campus in South Kensington.

Known for his ability to engage with works of art directly and make them come alive to the widest possible audience Prof Cumming will talk on Sorolla: Spanish Master of Light. Sorolla is best known for his iridescent canvases; from vivid seascapes, garden views and the bather scenes for which he is most renowned, to portraits, landscapes and genre scenes of late 19th century to early 20th century Spanish life.

We are thrilled to be holding this lecture in Jersey at the same time as the first major exhibition on Sorolla, opens at the National Gallery, London (18th March – 7th July, 2019).
