Event Overview

Tuesday 6 November: The Distant Barking of Dogs

Ukraine 2017 | 90 mins | Cert:

Filmmaker: Simon Lereng Wilmont

“We have days of silence. But they are so deadly – even worse than explosions. It’s the lull before the storm.”

10-year-old Oleg, and his cousin Yarik, live in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine – just minutes from where Ukrainian and pro-Russian forces are at war. Their days of play are often interrupted by echoes of anti-aircraft fire and missile strikes. As the world shakes around them, the beauty of childhood friendship becomes ever more important for survival.
