Cantabile sing William Byrd’s Mass for Four Voices, plainsong and motets by Tallis, Herbert, Grayston Ives & Philip Wilby. A short organ recital by Graham Caldbeck precedes the service from 5.35 p.m. Monsignor Nicholas France MBE will be the celebrant.
Byrd’s renowned Mass dates from around 1592 and is considered to be the first of his three great masses (respectively for 3,4 & 5 voices) to have been composed.
