Who Am I? Exhibition

Jersey Library

Event Overview

The 'Who Am I?’ exhibition is a collection of over 90 self-portraits created in Jersey by members of the public. This ongoing project invites people of all ages to explore the question ‘Who Am I?’, and to create a life size portrait of who they feel they truly are, from the inside out. We create a fun, relaxed environment in which people can express not necessarily what we see on the outside, but the depths and layers that exist on the inside… the colours, emotions, stories, dreams, fears and aspirations that make each of us unique.

The pieces on display were created at a drop-in studio at Picquet House during Skipton Open Studios. Each individual was drawn around on a large sheet of paper and invited to have fun and create their own multi-layered self-portrait using a range of mediums such as paint, chalk, pens, fabric, vinyl and wallpaper. With no rules and no time restrictions, sometook 30 minutes, others stayed all day … some even popped back day after day to add to their creation. The results are bold and colourful, uplifting and moving and show just how unique each of us truly is.

A selection of the life-size portraits will be on display in the Exhibition Space on the 2nd Floor and also in the Children’s Library from Monday 28th January - Saturday 23rd February.

The exhibition may be viewed during library opening hours:
