Exhibition: Jools Holt, Jersey Icons
Jersey Library
Event Overview
The work of Jools Holt focuses on the sites, buildings and structures treasured by Islanders and appreciated by visitors alike. She attended art college at the North East Wales Institute - Glyndwr University during the punk era inspired by the creativity in the music, clothes, attitude and images of the time. Using 'Artography' a combination of photography and mixed media to create her art, her pieces emanate an authentic hand created feel with a professional finish.
Jools is currently exploring ways to transform traditional Jersey monuments, relics and features into modern day icons so that they can reappear today as part of contemporary living in prints, canvas, block images, cards, postcards and paintings. This artwork is a process incorporating photography, painting, software and collage resulting in more than fifty images that are part of her 'Jersey Icon series', a contemporary take on traditional Jersey views, places and anything that could be described as iconic.
The work of Jools Holt is available from The Harbour Gallery, St Aubin and via her website www.joolsholt.com.
